Named for Dr. Lucy Hobbs Taylor, the first woman to earn a dental degree in the United States, the annual award recognizes a woman dentist whose leadership and service have advanced the profession and inspired future generations.

Dr. Berg has been a dedicated leader in AAWD and organized dentistry for more than three decades. She began her involvement as an AAWD student chapter officer at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry and went on to serve on AAWD’s national board. She later became president of both the Oklahoma Association of Women Dentists and the Oklahoma Dental Association, and in 2018 served as AAWD’s National President. In October 2024, she was elected 2nd Vice President of the American Dental Association.

Throughout her career, Dr. Berg has championed mentorship and the advancement of women in dentistry. She continues to mentor students and early-career dentists, supporting their growth as leaders in both clinical and professional settings.

“Finding my voice with a boardroom of female colleagues helped me grow the confidence I needed in a male-dominated career,” Dr. Berg said. “AAWD gave me the foundation to lead, and I am honored to continue giving back to the next generation.”

The award was presented at the 2025 AAWD National Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, during the annual Illuminate Her Awards Gala.
