Well-Being Index

ADA Expands Free Well-Being Index to All Dental Professionals

The American Dental Association (ADA) is extending free access to its Well-Being Index to all dental team members and non-member dentists. This initiative aims to support the mental health and overall well-being of all dental professionals, a group that has reported high levels of stress and burnout.

Developed by the Mayo Clinic, the Well-Being Index is a confidential, validated tool that helps users assess their risk of mental distress, including burnout, anxiety, depression, and fatigue. The ADA's licensed version of the index provides participants with immediate access to mental health resources from the ADA and various state dental associations.

By offering this tool to a wider audience, the ADA seeks to provide critical support to the entire dental community, recognizing that everyone in a dental practice can experience work-related stress. This expansion is a direct response to a 2024 ADA report, which found that 82% of dentists feel significant stress and burnout.
